Are You A Be - Do Have Or A Have - Do - Be? Part 3
We all hear how important it is to set goals for oneself if we want to have any sort of success in life. For those of us who strive to become better today than we were yesterday and set an example for others, we need to really learn the details of how to do it right. We need to get intelligent with our goal setting. We need to make them SMART.
Proper goal setting should be S.M.A.R.T.
Let’s take a general goal - I want to be financially abundant.
now make it SMART
S - Specific - I want $10,000,000- but what do you want it for?
M - Measurable - I want to earn $25,000 a week.
A - Attainable - you grow and expand to reach your goal once you see yourself as worthy of it and develop the personality and traits that allow you to achieve it.
I am cultivating the mindset and skills to reach my goal through daily action and learning and growth.
R - Realistic and Relevant - this means you have the skills and vehicles to achieve your goal . . . Is what you are doing to generate the income you want possible with what you are doing?
T - Timely and Tangible - I will be generating an income of $25,000 per week by June 30, 2008. Without a time limit, you have no incentive to take action towards your goal.
I want to cover another aspect to goal setting that is crucial to success. You need to attach strong emotion to your goals so they will become real to you. Imagine the emotional impact of you already achieving your goal. Be the person who’s accomplished it. How do you feel? How do you act, talk, think? What do you see yourself doing each day? What people and things surround you and interact with you on a daily basis? Describe the emotions you feel right now while you are imagining your goal as manifested and write those feelings down. You can start it off like this:
I am so happy and grateful that by (date) I have achieved (this) and am doing (this.
A key thing to keep in mind here is if you don’t have a faster heartbeat or butterflies in your stomach or some other physical reaction or transformation, then it is NOT a goal.
Create something that will get you emotionally involved. Look past the money - money is only energy. The money needs a worthy purpose. What do you REALLY want?
